54,000 gallons of oil from tanker Genmar Companion is expected to be transferred to another ship soon at the mouth of Belfast Lough.

The tanker had been on route from Rotterdam to New York when its deck cracked on 16th December. The transfer of the oil had been expected to take place last Saturday but was delayed and meanwhile the tanker has been moored off the Copeland Islands. After the oil has been transferred, the ship will enter Belfast Harbour for repairs.
