Bring Ards FC Home

Bring Ards FC Home campaign

In late January, a number of Ards supporters met to discuss ways in which Ards FC's desire to return home and play in a new council-owned community stadium could be achieved.

With an encouraging number of supporters in attendance, it was agreed to mount a campaign to put the issue back into the spotlight at a time when Ards Borough Council might be close to making a decision

A number of ideas were put forward during this meeting and the group agreed to put some of these into practice over the next few weeks.

Our aim to put the need for a community stadium in Newtownards in the spotlight will be pursued through:

  • Requesting meetings with local representatives
  • Asking local businesses to show their support by placing a notice in their shop front
  • Encouraging as many supporters as possible to write to the local press in support of a stadium
  • Encouraging supporters to write to their elected Councillors
  • Ggathering the support of the wider public by circulating a petition

Reporting anti-social behaviour in the Ards

Anti-social behavioue takes many forms, and what may be acceptable to certain people, may be a real nuisance to others.

Effective solutions to anti-social behaviour are not the responsibility of a single agency or organisation. Local residents and tenants, Local Authorities, victims and witnesses, Police, Social Services, businesses and many other groups and individuals have a role and a responsibility to tackle anti-social behaviour.

Only by working together will we tackle and make a real and lasting impact on our community.

Ards Borough Council and the Police Service of Northern Ireland Ards District Command Unit have combined resources to reduce the level of anti-social behaviour in the Ards Borough.

An Anti-Ssocial Behaviour Team consisting of 3 Council Officers will now work full time along with Community Police Officers in order to investigate reports and to determine if offences are being committed. The overall aim is to reduce the level of anti-social behaviour in the Borough.
