Art Exhibition – Chris Davis7:30 pm – 8:30 pm
Chris graduated from the University of Ulster in June 2010, with a degree in Fine & Applied Art Printmaking. He currently works as a professional artist at Seacourt Print Workshop in Bangor.
His work is based upon portraiture and architecture and Chris has chosen to work from photographs as first hand reference to create a finished print. He is influenced by Documentary photography and Japanese printmaking techniques working in various printmaking techniques such as collagraphs, screen prints, woodcuts, linocuts and digital.
The exhibition runs from 2nd to 25th February 2012.

Newtownards Saturday Market8:00 am – 5:00 pm
The Newtownards Saturday Market will be moving to a temporary site on Saturday the 21st January 2012. The new site will be at the bottom of Old Cross Street /Court Street or via the new Tesco link road.
The temporary move is necessary as Conway Square where the market is usually held, will be undergoing a three month makeover. For a while, the future of the the long-established town market seemed in doubt but a new location was confirmed at the eleventh hour. The new location is easy to find as it’s off the Castlebawn Road behind the new Tesco Extra store. A second, pedestrian entrance will also be open on Court Street close to the Ganges restaurant. The Newtownards Saturday Market will open at 8am and run throughout the day until 5pm.

The Kinder Transport Project is the history of Jewish refugees from Europe during the Second World War. The exhibition partner is Millisle Primary School, which has a link with “Magills Farm” where 70-90 Jewish refugees were accommodated. Exhibition panels, audio and visual aids explain all. The exhibition is incorporated into the Boys Brigade exhibits tracking their history since it was founded by William Alexander Smith in 1883.
